Tiglao to Robredo: I hope we argue through logic and evidence

Veteran columnist Rigoberto “Bobi” Tiglao recently posted on Facebook seemingly as a response to Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s call out against him.

Robredo has accused Manila Times columnist Rigoberto Tiglao as a purveyor of fake news after erroneously reporting she had a hand in the European Parliament’s resolution against the drug killings under President Duterte’s watch.

Robredo tweeted that she has never talked to any European politician about the war on drugs during her recent visit to Germany.

Another FAKE NEWS ALERT. Don’t read his columns nor do I know him. One thing I can say is he definitely is a purveyor of fake news,” Robredo tweeted.

To which Tiglao replied that the burden of proof should fall towards the VP to prove him wrong, and not just through accusations.

He adds that he is not a purveyor of fake news. Rather, he was posing a legitimate query.

I really hope we Filipinos would learn to argue through logic and the presentation of of data. If you claim a report is "Fake News," then present data and arguments why it is Fake News, why this and this is so impossible to have happened. Hindi pwede our parents' favourite argument: "Basta! Maniwala ka na lang!" If you claim you were threatened with another fake news, then explain why a legitimate journalistic query, to confirm or deny numerous reports of an alleged illicit affair posted may times on FB. Nagtatanong nag kung fake or hindi ang balita, ikaw pa gallit."
