NCCC fire rescuers deserve commendation, not rants –netizen

A photo of one of the fire rescuers in the recent tragedy in NCCC Mall in Davao City which took the lives of 38 people just two days before Christmas went viral in the internet.

The photo was credited to a certain Doy where the caption goes, "These people who are doing rescue operations at the NCCC Mall are the same people who helped in the Vinta flood calamity. They are restless. They don't deserve your rant and pointless small talk."



The fire at the mall initially started on the 3rd floor at around 9 30 am.

All fire stations from different cities were asked to respond after the declaration of a general alarm by the Bureau of Fire Protection.

At around 7 pm, fire were fanned anew, causing floors on the parking lot to collapse.

The Facebook post featuring the viral photo also read that anti-Duterte's are "having fun of what has happened."



"Not to mention but we Dabawenyos are always ready to extend our help when catastrophe happened in your places. Unfortunately, we are the ones who were victims of the catastrophe, we ask for your prayers rather than curses," the post read.

Thirty eight have been declared dead in the fire, with two bodies yet to e identified.

One of the deceased was Melvin Ga-a , an employee in the mall while the rest were employees of the call center Survey Systems International, whose office was at the topmost floor of the 4-story mall.

Ga-a was a part of the mall's disaster response team, and has saved several employees of the call center, said NCCC Mall spokesperseon Thea Padua.

"Melvin had already brought down several SSI employees and was already seen having safely exited the building at the ground floor, But instead of heading downstairs, he went his way up again to try to save more people."
