Trillanes to file libel cases against Thinking Pinoy

Last week, an article published by Philippine Star went viral on social media when US President Donald Trump allegedly called Senator Antonio Trillanes IV "little narco".

The said article was written by veteran journalist Al Pedoroche and was taken down immediately.

However, RJ Nieto of Thinking Pinoy was fast enough to find the googlecache of the article and posted it on his Facebook page, urging Senator Trillanes to accuse him for allegedly circulating "fake news."

"Well pini-prapare na ng abogado ko yung libel case so kakasuhan namin siya ng libel, yung nagkalat sila ng fake news na tinawag daw ako ni President Trump na little narco," Trillanes said.

"Maliwanag na 'yon doon sa US government website on the presidential pronouncements and interviews, wala talaga doon. So kasinungalingan talaga 'yan. It's a propaganda operation na sasalabungin ko 'yan," he added.

Trillanes said he will also file a libel case against Manila Times columnist Yen Makabenta.

"Ganyan eh, may humabol pa na isang kolumnista eh isasama natin. Humabol pa eh parang sama ako dyan sa kaso," he said.

Pedroche already apologized to Trillanes saying the article was meant as a laughing matter.

Trillanes said he will not include Pedroche in the libel case since he had already apologized.

Meanwhile, Nieto refused to apologize to Trillanes and even challenged to sue him instead.

"Dear Senator Trillanes, The Philippine Star reported that you will file a case against me if I refuse to apologize to you for citing a Philstar article. Let me inform you right now that I refuse to apologize so please do file a case," Nieto said in his post.

"And by the way, how will you fund the case? using publoc funds? You really are one goddamn idiot," he added.
