Over 1,000 ISIS troops in PH

Foreign officials laid down their concerns and intel regarding terrorist presence in the Philippine during the three-day international forum in Singapore where Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu relayed that there are 1,200 ISIS members in the Philippines.

"I was advised last night, 1,200 ISIS in the Philippines, around 40 from Indonesia," Ryacudu said.

As tension rises in the ongoing clash between government and Maute in Marawi City, Ryacudu urged fortified regional efforts against the “killing machines”.

The forum also shed light on the imminent return of Southeast Asian ISIS members who were also responsible for terrorist attacks in Syria and Iraq.

"We have to find... complete ways but we must exercise caution, they are killing machines. Their aim is to kill other people so that's why it's our responsibility that we have common understanding, consensus and common proceedings on how to fight these foreign fighters,” Ryacudu said.

Philippine Defense Undersecretary Ricardo David admitted being surprised at the number of ISIS troops in the Philippines.

"I really don't know, my figure is about 250-400, a lot less," he said.

Reports from the Philippine government showed that foreign ISIS fighters slain in the Marawi clash came from Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Chechnya.

David estimated that there are around 40 foreign terrorist members in the Marawi attack.

"Our intelligence estimates that there are about 40 foreigners that fought in the Marawi incident." David added.

Around 50 Maute members still have control over Marawi. The clash has resulted to 177 people dead including 120 militants.
