NUJP mocks Duterte’s absence and jokes about his funeral

An anonymous critic starts a chat with the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) page and receives replies that directly mocked and insulted President Rodrigo Duterte and his supporters.

On social media personality Sass Sasot’s page, For the Motherland - Sass Rogando Sasot, a screenshot of the NUJP conversation revealed the undignified statements the once-prestigious journalist organization issued against the President.

The NUJP claimed that the President is in a critically bad shape and then followed it up with mocking statements about that they will cover the funeral expenses of the President should his bad health give way.

Additionally, when the critic inquired about the corrupt journalists in its ranks, the NUJP replied by outright saying that they “don’t really care” about the opinion of the public despite being public servants themselves.

It also said that Duterte supporters are merely “blind followers” who are “bobo”. To put down the anonymous critic further, NUJP said that they would still exist even without Duterte in power and shooed away the critic by emphasizing that it had many more things to finish.

The critic simply replied by saying that the NUJP has lost its credibility.
The NUJP page scoffed at the statement and sarcastically asked if that opinion or information came from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II or from “fake news”.
