Int'l law expert knocks out Hontiveros: ‘Your definitions of rebellion and invasion are wrong!’
International Law expert and sister of the late MDS slams Sen. Risa Hontiveros regarding her interview with the UNTV network. The lawyer lambasts Hontiveros because it seems like Hontiveros was confused on the topic.

On the said interview, Hontiveros identified the valid reasons to declare Martial Law, that is rebellion and invasion. Daniel Razon asked her if she doesn’t find Maute Group’s take over in Marawi, but Hontiveros said that the situation in Marawi was different.

Hontiveros confidently explained that rebellion happens when a local government unit and/or population of the area creates upheaval against the government. Hontiveros furtherly identified that invasion is when nonresident armed groups take over a certain location with an intention to invade and cause violence.

To Razon’s analysis, therefore, there’s an invasion in Marawi, but then Hontiveros said that it is not an invasion.  Atty. Kanck said that what Hontiveros said isn’t the definition of rebellion and that pertains to another crime.

According to Knack, Hontiveros can’t identify the the crime in her tv interview. She commented that it is a shame for a senator who can’t even know and understand the law. “…umpisa pa lang mali na. Sa haba-haba ng linya ng sinabi niya, di pa rin maintindihan kung ano ang crime, dahil hindi niya alam,” she commented boldly.
