Duterte tears up during the arrival honors of 8 slain marines

The terrorist siege at Marawi City has cost infrastructure and livelihood damage, but the one damage that cuts deepest is the death of loved ones.

As President Rodrigo Duterte attended the arrival honors of eight slain marines deployed in Marawi, one of the marines’ relatives neared the President and cried her heart out.

Touched and saddened, Duterte himself also cried as the solemn event took place in the Villamor Airbase.

Despite the rising number of casualties, the end of the clash does not seem to be close in sight.

Government forces initially vowed to end the clash by June 12, 2017 Independence Day to herald the day Philippines stood free of colonial rule and held fast to tits sovereignty.

However, unexpected events continue to stall the efforts of the military.

“I can’t give you an estimate because of compounding developments faced by ground commanders,” Brigadier General Restituto Padilla said of the deadline to the clash.

As the war gets bloodier, more tears are shed. In the video clip posted by CinEmotion Digital Films, there they captured the President’s agony over the lives the terrorist war has taken.
