Marcelino can shed light on De Lima visit, ‘stunning’ conversation

According to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Navy Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Marcelino might decide to disclose details on the conversation he had with Senator Leila De Lima when the latter visited him in Camp Crame when she was still Justice Secretary.

“If he will testify, we can understand why De Lima made the visit and the conversation that they had,” para makita natin kung bakit siya dumalaw, yun conversation nila,” Aguirre said.

In a sworn affidavit of Marcelino, he mentioned the name of Senator De Lima who visited him at the PNP Custodial Center after he got arrested over drug charges.

“We discussed operation in the clandestine laboratory in Tarlac and the possible infiltration of the drug syndicate in the political leadership of which she said to me, ‘I can assure you the President is not involved,” Marcelino said, referring to President Benigno Aquino III.

“I was stunned when she mentioned the president, when I did not even state his name nor even allude to him at that time,” Marcelino added.

“Marcelino was surprised that she brought that up, right?” Aguirre said.

Marcelino also mentioned in his affidavit where he was surprised on why the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines was left out in the raids conducted at the NBP when the original plan was for ISAFP to conduct forensic tests on contrabands seized.

“I believe they are related (magkadugtong ‘yan),” Aguirre said on De Lima’s visit and the questionable NBP raids.
